Dr. Doris Decker was trained in Religious Studies and German Philology at the Goethe University Frankfurt/Main. In 2011 she was awarded a doctorate in Religious Studies, submitting a dissertation on conceptions of portrayals of women in early Islamic traditions. Her current research project is a study of sexuality and gender in modern Shiite Islam.
